Default Should I use 10w 30 or 5w 20 engine oil for my v6 ford fusion?

With my past cars I have always used 10w 30 for my motor oil. I have even but 10w 40 and it drove fine. And never really cared what the manufacturer wanted. The v6 3.0L ford fusion recommends 5w 20. Will it hurt to use 10w 30? To my 5w 20 seems more like water than oil.
its Mobil synthetic 10w 30
